Fantasy in Sounds and a Few Words

The first concert of the series will be dedicated to the connection between story and sound, taking a look at the influence extra-musical ideas have, like a life-story of landscapes, on the thoughts and creative processes of composers.

Among the works to be performed: Il barbiere di Siviglia Overture by Rossini; the Romeo and Juliet Fantasy-Overture by Tchaikovsky; Blue Rondo à la Turk and Runaway by Dave Brubeck; and excerpts from Symphony No. 45, Farewell, by Haydn.
