The Jerusalem Opera and the JSO are thrilled to perform Die Zauberflöte once more – one of Mozart’s finest works, who was first performed by the The Jerusalem in 2017 to great acclaim. Today we perform this work with the same stage concept, and ibvite you to re-experience the magic, beauty and wisdom of the wonderful masterpiece.
Die Zauberflöte was written in Vienna in 1791, to a Libretto by Emannuel Schikander, and has two acts. Prince Tamino is sent to save princess Pamina, who was cruely taken from her mother, Queen of the Night, by the evil Sarastro. But gradually it turns that the truth could not be more different: Sarastro is not evil, but the protector of the princess from the vengeful and violent mother. And so Tamino and Pamina embark on a journey in which they learn to look at the world from a new angle, overcome fears and obstacles, and reveal the powers within. An innitiation journey of bravery, loyalty, restraint and growing up, until the heroes become worthy of love.
