Jacob Orland is a classic songwriter from the early days of the State of Israel. He made aliya from Ukraine and immediately connected with the best musicians in Israel. Together with them, his songs shaped the image of the new State. Songs such as There were Nights (Hayu Leilot), The Truck is Travelling (Hatender Nossea), Zachariah ben Ezra (Zachariah son of Ezra) and many others were sung by everyone, and continue to be sung to this day. Over the years these songs have become milestones of popular Israeli culture.
