A co-production with Lyric Opera
A full production of Verdi‘s Aida, a tragic opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi to an Italian libretto by Antonio Ghislanzoni – performed over a thousand times since its premiere in 1886.
Set to the remarkable conquests of the Old Kingdom, a love story of Egyptian general Radames and Aida, daughter of the Ethiopian king who is at war with Egypt and kept as a slave at the Egyptian court is revealed. This love turns to be stronger than the promise of glory and power, stronger than loyalty to the motherland and, in a sense, even stronger than death itself.
