Young Symphony - The Family Series

The kids, parents and grandparents are already 'in the know'! There is nothing like our Family Series for children and adults alike!

The JSO's 82nd season is also Chen Zimbalista's sixth season as Music Director, and together we will be performing wonderful classics for the whole family alongside musical gems and virtuoso works!

And as usual, we will be hosting some amazing guests – soloists, choirs, ensembles and dancers in a celebration of sound and rhythm!
We open this year's family season with an amazing concert with Shlomo Gronich, under the baton of Chen Zimbalista: Britten‘s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, Gronich’s Go!, for Audience and Orchestra, and favorite songs by Shlomo Gronich, The Beatles and others arranged for orchestra.
On our second concert we welcome you to join us on a detective story with conductor Chen Zimbalista and actor and puppeteer Moti Bracher
Among the works to be performed: Excerpts from Haydn‘s Judas Maccabaeus and from Handel‘s Symphony No. 83, La Poule, Ode to Joy from Beethoven‘s Symphony No. 9, Presto Vivace from Schubert‘s Symphony No. 9 and Mancini‘s Pink Panther Theme.
What do dreams sound like? How does an atmospheric dream create a musical scale? Let’s take a stroll in a musical forest with pixies and fairies on our third concert
Among the works to be performed:
Mendelssohn – Excerpts from A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Tchaikovsky – Excerpts from Symphony No. 1, Winter Daydreams
Leroy Anderson – Trumpeter’s Lullaby
Gvili – Pizmon Layakinton

The fourth concert is aptly titled 'Biblical Stories' - Musical works, biblical stories and songs from King Solomon and Shalmai the Shoemaker.

Among the works to be performed:
Saint-Saëns – Excerpts from Samson et Delilah
Lilian/Sanderson – Goliath
Haydn – Excerpts from The Creation

And... the fifth and final concert is all about art! A crazy visit to the museum with screening of works of art who had inspired musical composition… and a giant screen, and a sand-artist who will draw on stage!
Among the works to be performed:
Bach – Badinerie
Mozart – Die Zauberflöte: Overture
Mendelssohn – Wedding March from A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Mussorgsky/Levitas – Pictures at the Exhibition
