Young Symphony - The Family Series

The kids, parents and grandparents are already 'in the know'! There is nothing like our Family Series for children and adults alike!

The JSO's 81st season is also Chen Zimbalista's fifth season as Music Director, and together we will be performing wonderful classics for the whole family alongside musical gems and virtuoso works!

And as usual, we will be hosting some amazing guests – soloists, choirs, ensembles and dancers in a celebration of sound and rhythm!

We open this year's family season with 'My Orchestra' - where The JSO players introduce themselves and their unique instruments, exposing the younger generation to familiar beloved classical works by the finest composers - the lovely programme includes Mozart's 'Eine kleine Nachtmusik', excerpts from Dvořák's Symphony No. 9, 'From the New World' and  Leroy Anderson's Bugler's Holiday.

What about some 'Humor and Children's Games'? - together with a  percussion ensemble from the Mishkenot Sha'ananim Music Center, directed by Alon Bor, we will be proferming Leopold Mozart's Toy Symphony, excerpts from Symphony No.94, 'Surprise', by Haydn and from Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 by Liszt, as well as Galop from 'Jeux d'enfants' by Bizet.

The third concert, 'Music of Fire and Water' includes excerpts from 'Swan
Lake' by Tchaikovsky, Morning Mood  from Grieg's 'Peer Gynt', as well as the famous 'Water Music' by Handel.

We'll be setting out on a quest for 'Heroes and Enchanted Creatures' next - this time we will be performing  the beloved The Sorcerer's Apprentice by Dukas, an excerpt from Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, 'Eroica', and Bacchanale from Saint-Saëns' 'Samson et Dalila'.

And... we will be going dancing on our final concert of the season, aptly called 'The Orchestra Goes Dancing!' - A spectacular show with 40 dancers and the JSO performing a repertoire of fun enchanting music with The Jerusalem Ballet School Troupe under the guidance of Nadia Timofeeva
