The Vocal Series

Focusing on the wonders of the human voice, the Vocal Series displays a wide range of orchestral works written by composers through the centuries, with soloists and vocal ensembles. The Vocal Series provides a variety of uplifting musical moments: Sublime transcendence with Liturgical music by Mendelssohn, Mozart and Haydn; Powerful and cathartic moments in performances of song cycles by Mahler and Shostakovich; Festive concerts with a selection of Arias from Operas by Mozart, Rossini and Offenbach; Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, based on Medieval monks' chants in a concert of South-American vocal music; and vocal works by young Israeli composers, using Jewish and universal religious texts as material and as an inspiration.

In this season’s Vocal Series you will be able to listen to the finest vocal soloists and musicians. The JSOs' Music Director, Maestro Frédéric Chaslin, who is of course one of the world’s leading Opera conductors, will be conducting four of the seven concerts, including the 79th season opening concert, in which mezzo-soprano Lena Belkina will be performing Mahler's Das Lied von die Erde; For the first time in Israel soprano Cristina Pasaroiu will performing an electrifying concert filled with vocal virtuosity; The Ladamus Te Stuttgart Choir will take part in a performance of Mendelssohn'sSymphony No. 2, and the Chamber Choir Collegium Musicum from Estonia will take part in a performance of Mozart’s

Coronation Mass.
All of these and more guarantee a season of excitement and charm, filled with beautiful voices and a host of delightful vocal works.
