Dmitry Levitas was born in the Ukraine and completed his Masters degree in Music at the Kiev Academy of Music. In 1987 was awarded the First Prize at the Ukraine Brass Competition. Between 1988 and 1990 he served as Principal Trumpet at the Kiev Philharmonic Orchestra, with whom he performed as a soloist on tour.
After immigrating to Israel he performed as Principal Prumpet and as a soloist with leading orchestras, including the Israeli Symphony Rishon Le’ Zion, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Israeli Camerata. He was also the Principal Trumpet at the Tel Aviv Brass Quintet.
Since 2004 Levitas serves as the Principal Trumpet at the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, IBA.
