Ma'ayan Choir

Ma’ayan Choir under the musical direction and conductorship of Ms. Anat Morahg is the official choir of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality Department of Performances, comprising of some 45 singers.

The choir singers are graduates of the Rubin Academy of Music Tel Aviv, the School of Choir Singing, music students and graduates of selected youth choirs, performing a varied repertoire including classical, contemporary and Israeli music.

Ma’ayan has performed in official ceremonies held by the municipality; in various festivals such as Tel Aviv-Yafo Festival, Abu Gosh Vocal Music Festival, The Renaissance Festival, “Tones in the Desert” festival, the Jerusalem Arts Festival; in concerts with the Symphonic Orchestras of Jerusalem, Haifa and Rishon Letzion, the Kibbutz Chamber Orchestra, the Israeli Chamber Orchestra, Raanana Symphonette, Baroquada, Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra and the Israeli Opera.

Ma’ayan Choir enjoys financial support from the Ministry of Culture and Sports, granted to outstanding choirs and chamber ensembles.

Since its founding in 1974, Ma’ayan has worked under the baton of both locally and world-renowned conductors. Ma’ayan has recently participated also in the international festival of selected choirs in Spain and performed with some of the world best choirs.

Nirit Ben Ishai is the administrative manager of the Ma’ayan Choir. Nirit acquired her B. Mus. at the Rubin Academy of Music Tel Aviv, specializing in choir conducting. She is also a violin teacher.

Odelia Eliezerov Sever is the piano accompanist of the choir.
